Our Jennies - Mammoths, Miniatures, and the Mare

Mammoth Donkeys         Miniature Donkeys         Mare

Here at the Circle Z we have dedicated the last 13 years building a jenny herd that brings out the best in each donkey. Desert Song has been the sole producer. We are currently working to get performance records on our other jennies before we began to breed them to outstanding jacks.

Donkey Sizes

Donkeys come in a variety of sizes, and here at the Circle Z we have two distinct breeds, ranging from the Miniature Mediterranean (under 36 inches) to the elegant Mammoth Jackstock (54/55" and over). We also have one brood mare that has produced award winning horse foals and is currently producing outstanding mule foals.

King has produced some award performance donkeys including Jardot's Jewels Sarah and Jardot's Jewels Blaze.

Quarter Moon Annabelle was the first jenny purchased at the Circle Z, so she was really the beginning of our jenny herd. She was purchased from Quarter Moon Ranch. Her Dam is Quarter Moon Black Gold Someday's and her sire is Quarter Moon Buster. She has had two babies, Circle Z Shadow, and Circle Z Nadia. She is currently at the same horse facility as Chester, doing her job as a companion animal and loving every minute out on pasture.

I wanted an all black miniature, and that is exactly what I got when Annabelle was bred to Sunset Acres Russian Czar. Nadia is completely black and has had one beautiful baby, Circle Z Liza Jayne, who shows real potential as a show animal.

Bett Up Front, aka Nellie, was purchased from Shelley Raley of Starke, Florida, and is a proven producer of quality performance, award winning, NASMA and AQHA horses and mules. She is currently leased out to Tabitha Holland of Signature Equine. Tabitha has bred her to Clyde's Gallant Fox, and she had two outstanding mule foals.

As you can see here at the Circle Z, we are trying to build a breeding program on a good foundation of diverse genetics, promoting both conformation and performance. We look forward to the future as we start to breed these jennies to high quality jacks with the ultimate goal of offspring with the best of both worlds, conformation and performance.
